Species: Gemma Celeste

Element(s): Space, Gems

Trait: Dreamers

Description: The species is a dying one, due to their incredibly fragile bodies. Where they are physically weak, they make up for it in psychic powers beyond control. With their third eye they see through space into different universes, through unlimited possibilities. Most have their eyes sewn shut until they master all other psychic powers. These powers typically include producing stars from their breath, creating black holes to take themselves or an object through space, basic telekinesis, using their gems to produce energy/emotions (based off their own), and others that have gone unrecorded. Once they deem themselves worthy, the seams are ripped and they are granted the third sight. The species are known to make small planets that constantly follow them, unless snipped off the string. Legend says that these rare aliens are actually universes themselves, and that all are just a part of them. When one dies, all the planets die with it. They are often hunted for their rare gems just beneath their skin (and sticking out), often used for jewelry or magical potions (usually to tell fortunes or bring good luck). Despite the fact they are prone to being as breakable as glass, the energy their crystals emit keep them together for the most part, unless vital organs are removed.

Name: Mira Reverie (Mira is a system in the space; Reverie is to dream)

Age: Unknown

Personality: Mira is, in lack of better words, a bit out there. She often gets lost in thought, and will stop everything to just sit and ponder. She is very anxious, and when things become too stressful she turns to her little planets for comfort. She has her own worlds that she creates and controls with tiny beings that she claims love her. She makes too many, though loves each and everyone equally. When the going gets tough, Mira often gives up and accepts her fate. She’s lost all fight in her after years of aimlessly wondering and being broken. She’s fragile, physically and mentally, though she still manages to shine.

Reasoning: Mira is my demon, or in other words, myself. We’re shy and scared, we hide in worlds of fantasy and try to escape from the real world. We’re broken and have scars, some visible and some not. Mira see’s no point in continuing, but despite that… She keeps going. She doesn’t know why she does, but she continues to live and experience things. Slowly, but surely, both Mira and I will open that third eye, and see all the possibilities.

Ok, finally submitted this! (Wow, so last minute) I spent way too long on this, and honestly this is my first time coloring and drawing on the tablet. But hey, Ava’s Demon is worth it. I’m nervous about sharing my art, but when I saw this contest I had to join!

I hope everyone enjoys my demon, I’m so proud of how much she’s developed. c:

Why so hesitant, Kaoru? You know you want to.

Disney movies in order of historical setting

(Excludes most of the package films. Some films, eg The Lion King, are impossible to pin down exactly and some, like Aladdin and Treasure Planet, are anachronistic, so these are estimations. A few have been split into 2 if there is more than one time period in the movie, and sequels have been put together.)

In The Not So Distant Future, Glow-In-The-Dark Trees Could Replace Street Lights

Is that… is that even healthy?

There are sea organisms and fungi which glow in the dark and there’s fireflies and jellyfish which glow in the dark. It doesn’t do them any harm nor does it do the people around them any harm. I would say its pretty healthy, as well as it would mean more photosynthesis happening in cities which mean cleaner air.

I was just curious about how they were doing it and for some reason I didn’t think to click the link. But thanks! It makes more sense now. I was afraid it was some kind of chemical thing.

nah just genetic modification using existing bioluminescent genes. Genetics is really cool, and so is bioluminescence. I mean they’ve already made pigs glow using jellyfish genes and pigs are waaay more complicated than trees iirc. So they’re actually (i think) less likely to muck it up with trees.

In which case

GLOWY

FORESTS

GLOWY

TREES

GLOWY

EVERYTHING

(I like glowy things)

okay so ima gonna blame julia for dragging me into this cool thing. Its a cool design contest, michelle, the author of Ava’s Demon is holding up. I created a demon representing seasickness, hence her name, Nauseo, which i believe is “sea sick” in latin. her hair is made of souls that she collects and that take shape of fishes. her thing on her chest is what “captures the soul” thats it, OH WAIT, her bangs is made of fish tails! now I wish good luck to everybody that participates :D
